WHERE TO WATCH: Fireworks and festivities for Fourth of July

Get ready to celebrate Independence Day in Charlotte! Here’s a list of events that will help you enjoy a fantastic Fourth of July in the Queen City and beyond.

July 3-4

Fourth of July Celebration at U.S. National Whitewater Center  
This annual two-day celebration will feature live music, yoga, standup paddleboard competitions and fireworks over the man-made whitewater river both days. Click here for details.

Town of Harrisburg July Fourth Celebration

WBT SkyShow 
SkyShow returns to BB&T Ballpark, kicking things off with a SkyShow Street Party on Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in uptown Charlotte from 2-10 p.m. A huge fireworks display will follow a baseball game between the Charlotte Knights and Durham Bulls. Click here for details.

Lake Wylie Fireworks
Fireworks will begin at dusk and you can watch by land or by lake. Best viewing will be near the Buster Boyd Bridge area. Click here for details.

Matthews Fun Family Fourth of July  
Decorate your bike, scooter or wagon and join the People's Parade that begins at 5:30 p.m. in front of Town Hall and marches to Stumptown Park. Live music will begin at the park at 7 p.m. Click here for details.

Hickory Grove Parade and Celebration 
The 51st annual parade has a new route this year, beginning at Lawrence Orr Elementary School. The celebration will be held at a new location, as well, Aldersgate. Click here for details.

Tega Cay Fourth of July Celebration
Festivities will be held throughout the day, beginning at 9 a.m., and include a golf cart parade, boat parade, log rolling, paddleboard joust and fireworks finale. Click here for details.

Baxter Village/Fort Mill Fourth of July Parade
Parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Additional festivities include flag-raising, food trucks, music and more entertainment. Click here for details.

Plaza Midwood Fourth of July Pig Pickin'
Annual party in the parking lot at The Diamond will feature live music, food and more. Click here for details.

Davidson Patriotic Parade
Stroll along South Street (beginning at 5:30 p.m.) to the town green, where there will be a concert. No fireworks. Click here for details.

Red, White and Belmont 
Festivities include a parade of patriotic pups, pie eating contest, live music, fireworks and more at Stowe Park. 4-10 p.m. Click here for details.

Kings Mountain Revolutionary Fourth

July 4-5

Celebrate America Fireworks Show at Carowinds 
Sparkles of red, white and blue will light up the night sky as patriotic music plays at Carowinds. Click here for details.

June 29 through July 7, all active and retired U.S. military and National Guard get free admission to Carowinds. Must present a valid government-issued ID. Additional tickets for family members can be purchased at a discounted rate. Click here for details.

Free Fishing Day
From midnight until 11:59 p.m. on July 4, everyone in North Carolina can fish for free in any public body of water, including coastal waters, without purchasing a fishing license or additional trout fishing privilege. Click here for details.
