CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police closed a major road while they investigated a fatal crash in south Charlotte early Friday morning.
Police closed Providence Road at Strawberry Hill Drive after a head-on collision at about 12:30 a.m.
Officers said 25-year-old David Huffman was speeding and lost control, crossing the center line of Providence Road and hitting a Toyota RAV 4 driven by 30-year-old Matthew Eastridge. Meredith Eastridge, 31, was also in the vehicle.
Huffman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The Eastridges suffered serious injuries and were taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
