2 dead in shooting inside Lowe's in Concord

CONCORD, N.C.,None — Store management at the Lowe's store on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard identified the two people shot to death inside the store Monday afternoon.

Vivian Xiong and her husband, Por Ye Lor, died Monday, the store's manager Karen Cobb said early Tuesday morning. Xiong, 25, was a six-year employee of the store, the manager said. Lor was 31 years old, she added.

Cobb said Lor shot Xiong and then turned the gun on himself.

Police have not determined the motive for the shooting, but did say the two were fighting before the shooting. The couple lived in Salisbury, police said, but there is no record of domestic disturbances at their home.

Sunnis Lor said he was the brother of the male victim, but was still unclear of the details surrounding the shooting. He said he spoke to his brother Monday morning and had no indication that anything was wrong.

"He didn't tell me nothing." Lor said, "Three o'clock, I went to work and my parents called me and said something happened to my brother and sister-in-law, that's it."

Moments later, police informed Lor and his family that their relatives were dead.

Lor said his brother and sister-in-law were from Laos, lived in Salisbury and had three children.

People inside the store told Eyewitness News the husband shot the wife, who was an employee at the store, then turned the gun on himself. A representative with the Lowe's corporate office confirmed that one of the deceased is a store employee.

Police have not confirmed those accounts.

Most employees were too shaken up to comment, but Zachary Bare's grandparents were inside the store during the shooting.

"They went outside the store and when they came out, they saw two people laying there. They were pretty much scared to death," Bare said.

Grief counselors are going to be on hand at the store for the next few days helping customers and employees.
