Animal rights group calls for arrests at Butterball farm

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — An investigation into abuse at a North Carolina turkey farm continued on Friday.

The investigation stems video taken by an undercover member of the group "Mercy for Animals". The video shows turkeys at a Hoke County farm being kicked and thrown against the side of a truck.

The group was in Charlotte Friday, requesting criminal charges be brought against Butterball and its employees.

"It's very clear that Butterball does not have meaningful animal welfare policies and procedures," Daniel Hauff said, a spokesman for Mercy for Animals.
