Habitat for Humanity works to keep up with increased demand in affordable housing

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Affordable housing is hard to come by in today’s landscape. However, relief has come for some families in the Statesville area.

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte region is helping two families become homeowners after building homes using volunteer teams. Another pair of homes is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

With over 400 people applying to own homes, the organization said it is facing several hurdles, such as being able to get the proper materials and keeping them at a affordable price. But there are still plenty of plans from Habitat for Humanity to keep trying to get more people in the area in affordable housing.

>> In the video at the top of the page, Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura shows how Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte region is helping people with affordable housing amid the challenges.
