Homicide Victim Was Photographer For Creative Loafing

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A photographer for the popular newspaper Creative Loafing Charlotte was killed in Charlotte's first homicide of 2011.

Christopher Radok, 55, was found dead in his home on Purser Drive on Monday afternoon. The officers who found his body were responding to a call to check on his welfare, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested 29-year-old Antoine Young late Monday and charged him with murder, armed robbery and larceny of vehicle. "The evidence in this case points to the fact that Mr. Young broke into Mr. Radok's home and that he attacked Mr. Radok as he arrived home from work," police said in a news release about the killing. Radok was pronounced dead at the scene.

Radok had been with Creative Loafing for several years. "To Creative Loafing, Radok is more than just another random victim of violence. He was a valued and noted photographer who worked for CL for a number of years," the newspaper said.
