CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD hosted a community event Saturday in an effort to build a positive relationship between faiths in the community
The Bridge the Difference event went on outside the Thomasboro Academy on Bradford Drive.
Police Chief Kerr Putney said the event will help neighbors get to know each other and make Charlotte safer.
"I kept talking about seeing everybody. Basically, preaching to the choir,” Putney said. “Going to a white church and having the same conversation at a black church, so I said, 'let's bring them together, let's bridge the difference, let's maKe our city safer.'"
Putney said he hoped the event will inspire other houses of worship to come together.
