Officials: Driver hit head-on after overcorrecting SUV

MT. HOLLY, N.C. — One person was critically injured in a wreck in Mt. Holly Wednesday morning, according to Gaston County police.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Highway 273 at Hartis Way.

Police said a person was driving an SUV and went off the road. The driver overcorrected and was hit head-on by a Lowe's delivery truck.

Officials have closed the road after fuel started leaking from the Lowe's truck.  They said they will have to drain the fuel tank and clean up the spill before reopening the road.

Two people were inside the Lowe's truck and are fine. The driver of the SUV was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.
