Charlotte-Mecklenburg police shut down the road at 4839 Freedom Drive after the collision, which happened at about 6:30 p.m.
The two people in the house were not injured.
The front half of the truck could be seen inside the house, while the back half was out.
Homeowner Carl Gadd told Channel 9 it sounded like a bomb went off.
Gadd said it was the second time a vehicle hit his house in four years.
He said he wanted the city to add a guardrail after the road was widened but he was told, “No.”
“Before they widened the road, there was a big ravine here with a creek and big trees that would keep that vehicle from hitting my house,” Gadd said.
The driver of the truck was hurt and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
No further information has been released.
