2 killed after car overturns in Chester County, troopers say

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Two people were killed Thursday in a crash in Chester County, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 10:55 a.m. on Old York Road.

The coroner said Tillman Crouch Jr., known as Doc, and James Crowl, known as Red, were killed in the crash. The men were driving a kit car, which was a mock-up of a 1937 Ford.

Troopers said the crash involved one car. The car overturned, hit utility poles and set the woods on fire.

Neither Crouch nor Crowl were wearing seatbelts and they were ejected from the car.
