CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police told Channel 9 that speed and alcohol were likely factors in a deadly south Charlotte crash Sunday night.
Emergency crews responded to the wreck around 9:45 p.m. on Providence Road, near Sharon Amity Road.
Detectives said the driver went off the road, overcorrected and slammed into a utility pole.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said he did not have any identification on him, and they're still trying to figure out his name.
Providence Road was closed for hours as police investigated, finally reopening just before 1 a.m.
