19-year-old charged with attempted murder after north Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE — A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder following a Nov. 27, 2024, shooting incident in north Charlotte.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the victim, who was driving on Allen Road South, was struck by two gunshots fired from another vehicle.

The suspect, De’shon Wynter, was later arrested after officers stopped the suspect vehicle and found him in possession of a stolen firearm.

In addition to the charges of attempted first-degree murder, Wynter faces charges of discharging a weapon into occupied property and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. A nearby home was also hit by gunfire during the incident, but fortunately, none of the four occupants were injured.

The arrest and subsequent charges against Wynter were made possible through the efforts of the CMPD’s Crime Gun Suppression Team and additional evidence gathered from a search warrant on Wynter’s residence.
