CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers are being credited with saving a 12-year-old boy’s life after he was shot lying in bed when someone sprayed bullets into his family’s home Tuesday night in east Charlotte.

The boy, Jason, is expected to recover.
His mother, Dolen Bdap, said she was horrified when she found her son shot.
“I ran upstairs,” she said. “He was crying and holding his arm. He told me that he's been shot.”
Officers Chad Henderson and Michael Summerlin were the first to get to the home.
"At that point, we just went into action," Henderson said.
Henderson placed a tourniquet on Jason's arm whileSummerlin applied pressure to stop the bleeding.
Bdap knows their quick actions saved her son’s life.
“Yes, of course, because his blood, it's pouring,” she said. “I think if they didn't act fast, it probably could get worse than that.”
"And if it was my kid, I'd want the same thing done," Summerlin said.
No arrests have been made in the case.
