POLKTON, N.C. — Four inmates were treated for minor injuries after a disturbance Friday at Lanesboro Correctional Institution.
A fight among inmates erupted in a dining hall at lunchtime and correctional officers brought the situation under control and returned inmates to their cellblocks, Department of Public Safety officials said in a news release.
A short time later, fighting among other inmates began in one cellblock and resulted in four inmates who received minor injuries.
Three inmates are being treated at a local hospital and one by prison medical staff, officials said.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Polkton Police Department in investigating the incidents.
