$500K grant moves Spencer Mountain trail closer to reality

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Carolina Thread Trail received a grant to fund a trail project that allows hikers to summit Spencer Mountain.

The $500,000 grant is one of the final pieces of funding needed for the $1.5 million project.

The project will create three miles of trail on Spencer Mountain.

It will also create a pocket park with a viewing area of the summit, accoridng to the Gaston Gazette.
