DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — 68 animals have been taken from a Duplin County home after multiple animal cruelty tips were sent to police and animal service, officials said, WCTI reported.
According to officials, the 68 animals included horses, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, dogs, hogs, turkeys and a donkey.
The animals were taken to two local animal shelters.
The animal’s owners, Jeremy and Evelyn Cowley, are being investigated for animal cruelty. Officials said they were also investigated earlier this year in Onslow County for animal abandonment.
Neighbors said the Cowley’s did not live at the home in Duplin County, but that they lease the property for the animals.
