HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Seniors at a local rehabilitation center are feeling the love Tuesday thanks to the efforts of a young girl in Huntersville.
Heidi Sidelinker-Schiliro’s eight-year-old daughter, Emelia Luna, helped to make 100 handmade Valentine’s Day cards over the past few days, and on Tuesday, the pair delivered them to the residents at the Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Emelia Luna is home-schooled, but she definitely had enough valentines for a whole class.
“We chose to think of it as a day to remind others around us that they are special, loved, worthy of the time it took to make the cards, appreciated, and of the importance of basic human connection and friendship,” said Emelia Luna’s mother, Heidi.
In addition to the handmade valentines, the mother-daughter duo also made a Valentine’s Day mailbox for residents who want to write back.
