‘All the help we can get’: Coulwood community kicks off fundraiser to save neighborhood pool

CHARLOTTE — The Coulwood community in west Charlotte held a birthday bash on Sunday to celebrate their pool’s 60th year.

The celebration was also meant to be a kick off a fundraiser to save the pool which needs extensive repairs to stay open.

Generations of Charlotte residents have fun memories of the pool and are trying to restore it, but it comes with a price tag of around $400,000.

Things you can’t see like the plumbing, the filtration system, those things are very, very old. In order for us to keep the pool safe, we need all the help we can get,” organizer Betsy Mauney.

Sunday’s birthday bash included a taco bar, a salsa competition, and line dancing.

Organizers used the event as a chance to discuss fundraising opportunities for the pool.
