Amber Alert canceled, 4-year-old Brunswick County girl found safe

BRUNSWICK CO., N.C. — An Amber Alert was canceled Wednesday for a 4-year-old girl from Brunswick County, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said.

She was found safe in Tennessee with the assistance of the Nashville Metro Police Department. An off-duty officer heading home and a local resident also helped, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said.

Aubrey Leanne McFarland has brown hair, brown eyes, and is bi-racial. She is about 3 feet tall and weighs 42 pounds. She was believed to be wearing a purple shirt black leggings, black zip-up boots, and a pink fleece jacket.

The girl’s hair was in a single braid with purple and white ball hair pieces, deputies said.

McFarland was found with Elijah Muhammad McFarland, who is her father according to WWAY.

Elijah McFarland is a 37-year-old Black man. He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 161 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was believed to be wearing a black shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

Earlier in the day, the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Elijah McFarland, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, according to WWAY.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Elijah McFarland was last seen wearing all black clothing, and a black hat with a green and tan bill near Crabapple Road in Winnabow.

Elijah McFarland was possibly traveling north on US Highway 17 in a burgundy 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser with NC license plate number TCY-9075, police said. The sheriff’s office thought he might be headed to California with his child.
