Apartments being built next to Roof Above near Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — There’s now more information about what crews have been working on at a site on the outskirts of Uptown Charlotte.

A developer has submitted plans to the City of Charlotte for the Silver Hills at NoDa apartment complex at 900 North Tryon Street.

The development is directly next to Roof Above, a nonprofit that provides services to Charlotte’s homeless population. A spokesperson for the City of Charlotte says the approved use for the site is 323 apartments.

The property is zoned “Uptown Mixed Use Development,” known as UMUD, and does not require a rezoning or a Charlotte City Council approval.

The developer of the project did not respond to two requests for comment from Channel 9.

The price range for the apartments is unclear.

A spokesperson for Roof Above said the nonprofit does not have any information on the project.
