CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man accused of holding up employees Thursday morning at a Cash America pawn shop on Freedom Drive has been arrested.
The robber took money from the business and fled in a white vehicle, authorities said. Officers circulated the area and found the suspect vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop but the man drove off, they said.
Police chased the vehicle until the suspected robber crashed. Chopper 9 flew over the scene after the car crashed into a tree on Poinsett Street, near Atando Avenue.
Officer said the man jumped out of the vehicle and ran from the scene. Police took him into custody after a short foot chase.
Police have not released the suspect's name.
