UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Assault allegations made against a Marvin Ridge Middle School teacher were unfounded, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Union County Public School officials said on Friday that the teacher was under investigation after being accused of kicking a student.
The Sheriff's Office said there were two separate incident reports filed against the teacher by two separate students.
The first case involved an allegation that the teacher kicked the calf-area of a student to stop the person from disrupting the class, but the parents did not wish to pursue any charges, deputies said.
The second case involved an allegation that the teacher grabbed a student by the neck. Officials reviewed hallway surveillance cameras, and nothing was found to support the student's allegation.
Both cases have been closed.
School district officials said the teacher was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. It's not clear if the status has changed since the Sheriff's Office has closed both cases.
