CHARLOTTE, N.C. — AT&T Inc. is cutting hundreds of jobs in its Southeast region.
The Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 3310, based in Louisville, Kentucky, shared in a Facebook post that AT&T will cut 917 employees in CWA District 3, which consists of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Nationwide, the company is reducing its workforce by 1,800 employees, CWA said.

“Due to changes as our business and industry continue to evolve, we are making some staff reductions involving technicians who install and repair certain services and network systems,” Phil Hayes, senior public relations manager at AT&T Corporate Communications, said in an email. AT&T declined to disclose specific numbers or locations.
