CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for whoever shot and killed a 52-year-old man in northwest Charlotte Friday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the shooting call around 4:30 p.m. on Morning Breeze Lane, off of Rozzelles Ferry Road, and found Thomas Louis Beatty, Jr. laying in the yard, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting death marked Charlotte's seventh homicide of 2017.

Investigators told Channel 9 that Beatty and his killer knew each other and that the shooting was drug related.
No arrests have been made.
