Bank of America Stadium lands in bottom half of NFL venues in new ranking

CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers want to make major upgrades to Bank of America Stadium. According to new rankings by The Athletic, Charlotte’s NFL franchise is thinking the right way, as the 27-year-old stadium finished in the bottom half of the league’s 30 venues.

Carolina’s 74,000-seat home field ranked 22nd overall, the same as it did in 2020, the last time The Athletic analyzed NFL stadiums.

There were 31 stadiums in 2020; now there are 30 since the L.A. Rams and Chargers share SoFi Field. The two New York teams, the Giants and Jets, already shared MetLife Stadium when the previous rankings were published.

U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, topped the list, as it did in 2020. The Athletic ranked the stadiums by surveying the publication’s NFL beat writer.
