Bank of America shareholders to meet following 'heated' Wells Fargo meeting

Charlotte-based Bank of America has eliminated a free checking account popular with lower-income customers.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bank of America shareholders will gather in uptown Charlotte Wednesday morning for their annual meeting.

Shareholders will vote to elect new directors and to approve compensation for its top executives.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the Hilton Charlotte Center City on East Third Street.

There was a meeting for Wells Fargo’s shareholders on Tuesday which some sources said became heated.

An angry investor interrupted the meeting, demanding answers about the fake accounts scandal, sources at the meeting said.

Investor Bruce Marks demanded accountability over the way the bank and its board handled the scandal.

He spoke out of order, screaming, "tell us what you knew and when you knew it."

During the meeting, all of the directors on Wells Fargo’s board ended up re-elected but some received unusually low levels of support.
