CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mayor Pro Tem Michael Barnes announced on Wednesday night he will be running for Charlotte mayor.
Barnes, a Democrat, is serving his fifth term on City Council.
Several other Democrats have already said that they will be running for mayor of Charlotte this fall.
Current Mayor Dan Clodfelter, City Councilman David Howard and former County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts are all seeking the Democratic nomination for mayor.
