BBB releases 'Dirty Dozen' list with most unresolved complaints

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Better Business Bureau announced its annual Dirty Dozen list of businesses from the Charlotte area with the most unanswered and unresolved complaints in 2014.

Consumers filed 13,642 complaints with the BBB in 2014 against businesses in the area for North and South Carolina.

Three of the 12 companies with the most unanswered and unresolved complains were collection agencies that specialize in collecting payday loans taken out online.

Two businesses on the list are repeat offenders that have made previous years' Dirty Dozen lists, according to BBB President Tom Bartholomy.

"When companies don't respond to or resolve complaints, they usually don't stay in business very long because consumers are doing their homework and checking businesses out," Bartholomy said.
