Bill to allow NC lottery winners to remain anonymous shot down

NORTH CAROLINA — A new bill filed in North Carolina that would protect the identities of lottery winners in the state was shot down.

The winner's name, hometown and amount of money won will remain public. The information is typically collected for prizes of $600,000 and more.

The proposed bill would have given winners the chance to keep their information private.

Last month a North Carolina mother of four hit the largest jackpot in the state's history.
