SALISBURY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Carlos Aristoteles a homicide after a groundskeeper discovered his partially buried body on a nature trail at Catawba College in Salisbury in June.
An autopsy report determined Aristoteles had been shot and stabbed multiple times.
Aristoteles, a tattoo artist who moved to the Charlotte area three years ago, was last seen in late May at a vape shop on Albemarle Road in East Charlotte.
The college campus where his body was located sits more than 40 miles away from where he was last seen alive.

Ana Tiznado, the sister of Aristoteles, said her brother was a dedicated father who turned his life around to care for his two children.
Following his disappearance, Tiznado took leave from her job and flew from California to search for her brother for three weeks before she was forced to return home.
“Anybody who knew Carlos, they got to witness a very noble person, a strong-minded person. Very loyal,” Tiznado said.
Tiznado stated that her goal is to discover who killed her brother and keep the investigation active with law enforcement.
“You can sit there and think of many possibilities, and it’s very torturing to the mind,” Tiznado said. “To make sure now that we get justice that he deserves. That his children deserve answers one day.”
Both the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Salisbury Police Department have been contacted for updates regarding the ongoing investigation into the case.
