Body discovered along I‑40 in Burke County; investigation underway

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a motorist reported a person lying face down along I‑40 near Exit 113 on Wednesday.

First responders found a deceased white male in the tall grass beside the roadway.

The cause of death, along with the identity of the deceased, has not been released.
