CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several Caribou Coffee locations in Charlotte will close in about a week.
Employees and customers found out the same way when they saw a note posted on the window.
When customers went to grab their cup of joe on Monday morning some found out that their favorite coffee shops will not be filling their cups anymore.
"I looked at the door and it said they were closing Sunday, and I was in shock because Caribou's been here forever," said Anna Conley.
Conley works as a waitress at a restaurant next to Caribou Coffee at Carmel Road and Highway 51.
"A lot of people come here just to have a good cup of coffee ... and sit down, good conversation," she said. She was upset to see the sign that said the store would close this Sunday at noon.
"I think that's really unfortunate and really sad. I thought they were doing really well for themselves. They've been around a long time. Never dreamed that they would be closing," said Conley.
Eyewitness News saw a similar sign when we pulled up to the East Boulevard location – it also asked to visit the stores that will apparently remain open, at 4372 Park Road Shopping Center, Founders Hall in the Bank of America tower and the location on 8804 Fairview Road.
There are a total of 14 locations in the Charlotte area and customers are not happy to find out that their favorite hangout will soon be closed.
"Yes it's pretty disappointing, shocking, especially since it's closing so soon, short notice I guess," said Sarah Gathings.
Eyewitness News put in several calls and emails to Caribou's corporate office to get more information on exact closings, but has not received a response at this time.
