CarolinaTix moves exclusively to mobile tickets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Tuesday, CarolinaTix, the ticketing service operated by Blumenthal Performing Arts, will move entirely to mobile tickets to help provide its customers with a safer and easier experience.

Buyers will now see “Contactless Mobile Tickets” as the only delivery option when purchasing tickets to Blumenthal’s six venues, as well as Blumenthal presented shows at Ovens Auditorium.

Mobile tickets will be sent via email with the options to download the tickets into Apple Wallet or save them to a preferred location on your mobile device.

A PDF of the ticket may be printed at home and used for admission, but the organization recommends keeping the ticket in a digital format to get rid of unnecessary touchpoints.

The move away from hard tickets entirely is part of Blumenthal’s COVID-19 risk reduction strategy as the organization plans for a safe reopening.

"Contactless mobile tickets have become the industry standard in sports and entertainment. Our local professional sports teams adopted this last year, and we believe now is the time to implement it in our venues," Blumenthal President Tom Gabbard said in a news release.

“Moving to mobile-only tickets will enhance the patron experience by providing a truly contactless purchase and admission path, while also reducing the risk of lost, stolen or counterfeit tickets,” he added.

Contactless mobile tickets will be the only delivery option for both season and single tickets and will apply whether tickets are purchased online or by phone.

Blumenthal’s resident companies, including Opera Carolina, Charlotte Ballet and the Charlotte Symphony, will also move to mobile tickets, as will other organizations presenting in Blumenthal managed theaters.

Blumenthal manages Belk Theater, Booth Playhouse, Knight Theater, McGlohon Theater, Duke Energy Theater and Stage Door Theater.

Customers currently holding hard tickets for future shows do not need to do anything. Those tickets will be honored or replaced with digital tickets, if necessary, prior to the event.
