Carowinds has announced it will open for the 2021 season on May 22.
Carolina Harbor water park will open on Saturday, May 29. And the park’s newest attraction, Grand Carnivale, will run July 17 - Aug. 1.
The park will reopen with a limited capacity to help guests maintain proper social distancing. Tickets will need to be purchased in advance and face coverings or masks will be required for all guests age 2 and older.
In addition, at least one member of your group will need to download the Carowinds mobile app to their phone. The app will help guests find nearby hand sanitizer stations, restrooms, open dining locations and available attractions and rides. Rides and attractions that don’t provide enough space for proper social distancing will be closed.
Entering the park will look a little different this year, too. Visitors will have to pass through a thermal screening tent to have their temperatures read before entering the park and touchless turnstiles will scan your season pass or ticket inside the mobile app.
All indoor entertainment and games will be closed.

Traditionally, the park has reopened in March but last year Carowinds did not open for its regular season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was open for its annual holiday event on select nights in November and December.
