CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy was honored for saving a man who was struggling to stay afloat on Lake Norman.

The Sheriff said deputy Scott Sawyer was on patrol on the lake on July 30 when he responded to the call about a man who fell off a jet ski.

He quickly pulled the man into his boat and took him to shore where EMS was waiting.

“I commend both Deputy Sawyer and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lake Patrol Deputies for their actions. Saving a life is the highest form of public service a deputy can offer citizens they serve,” Sheriff Don Brown said.

The Sheriff awarded Sawyer with a plaque for his actions.
