CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 74-year-old bicyclist has died, days after he was struck by a CATS bus in north Charlotte.
Police told Channel 9 that Charles Adkins died at Carolinas Medical Center Sunday afternoon.
Investigators said Adkins was struck by a Charlotte Area Transit Systems bus Wednesday morning on Statesville Road near WT Harris Boulevard.
Police told Channel 9 that Adkins turned into the path of the bus. The bus swerved to avoid hitting him, but the front of the bus struck Adkins.

Adkins was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but passed away just before 1 p.m. Sunday, CMPD said.
Friends told Channel 9 that Adkins, called Mo, was known for fixing and donating bicycles.
“He would give to kids in the neighborhood. He would give them bicycles if they needed one. That's just the kind of man he was," long-time friend Stacy Sprinkle said.
He was not wearing a helmet or reflective clothing at the time of the crash, according to police.
The driver and one passenger on the bus were uninjured.
Police are still investigating the crash.
