CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization received an update on a proposal to build new toll lanes on Interstate 77 in south Charlotte.
The proposed lanes would run from Interstate 277 down to Interstate 485.
CRTPO discussed the unsolicited proposal Wednesday night.
The proposal came from Spanish firm Cintra, the company that built the toll lanes in north Mecklenburg County.
The board learned that a group studied the proposal and recommended they not move forward with it.
The group said the proposal isn’t really different than what the board was already considering.
