Charlotte-area residents head to Fla. for Trayvon Martin rally

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 40 people from the Charlotte area are on their way to Sanford, Fla., for a rally to draw attention to the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Martin was killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman last month. Zimmerman has claimed he acted in self-defense, and hasn’t been arrested.

The teenager was not armed.

The group THUG, or Total Healing Under God, is calling for Zimmerman to be arrested, and hope its presence helps bring justice for Martin's family.

The rally is being organized by Rev. Al Sharpton.
