CHARLOTTE — Thousands of people across the Queen City will get a Thanksgiving meal this year, thanks to the Charlotte Hornets.
The team hosts a food giveaway every year around this time for families in need -- and this year is no exception.
NOW: Organziers w/ @hornets are setting up for this morning’s Cornucopia event! At 10:30 a.m., they’re giving away Thanksgiving dinner boxes to 1,000 families. This year, it’s in a parking lot near Ovens Auditorium. @FoodLion donated the food. @wsoctv pic.twitter.com/f41gx25eK8

This is the 10th year the Hornets have hosted their Cornucopia event.
Food Lion donated all the food for these Thanksgiving meals. Each box contains turkey and a whole mess of sides -- it’s enough to feed a family of four.
Organizers want the public to know that people can’t just show up to today’s event, though. They must have a voucher from Second Harvest food bank.
>> In the video at the top of this page, reporter Gina Esposito explains a few changes this year.
We're proud to be hosting our 10th Cornucopia event in partnership with @FoodLion TOMORROW morning! 🦃 Our organization will join Food Lion, @CokeCCBCC and @shmetrolina to hand out food to Charlotte-area families.
