Charlotte Knights land 5-game college slate at Truist Field

CHARLOTTE — For the first time since 2019, the Charlotte Knights expect to host a full slate of college baseball games at Truist Field. On Wednesday, head coaches from Davidson College, Queens University, and UNC Charlotte were at the ballpark to discuss upcoming games.

The Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Since 2015, a year after Truist Field opened, the ballpark has regularly hosted college baseball games in early spring.

This year five games are scheduled, beginning with the Charlotte 49ers (UNC Charlotte’s sports teams are known as “Charlotte”) against the University of South Carolina on March 21.

The rest of the college lineup: Appalachian State University versus Queens on March 29; UNC Chapel Hill versus South Carolina on April 4; Davidson versus N.C. State on April 18; and East Carolina University versus Charlotte on April 19.

“We’re excited to get back to some sense of normalcy,” Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski said. “We had very limited college baseball — we’re back to a slate back to what we started in 2015.”
