City leaders discuss Charlotte's real estate, economic growth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Center City Partners said Tuesday that the nonstop construction in the Queen City is going to continue.

Hotels, office space and residential development are all doing great as more people come to stay in the city, Charlotte Center City Partners CEO Michael Smith said at the eighth annual State of the Center City address.

Mayor Vi Lyles stressed how the council uses this data to improve the city.

“When we talk about what our areas of focus are, we talk about good-paying jobs for everyone that works here in our community,” Lyles said.

The Charlotte City Council will use information from the State of Center City address at its annual retreat, which starts Wednesday in Durham.

The council will focus on growing the economic base by adding jobs, investing in the community and building better neighborhoods.
