In just a few days the Cleveland County fair will open up, and this year the focus will be on safety after last year's E.coli outbreak killed a toddler and sickened more than 100 people.
Channel 9 had a look inside the set up for the animal exhibit that was considered part of the course for the outbreak last year.
Over the next day, animals will arrive at the exhibit.
Health officials said they will take a more active role to make sure people stay safe. There will be no petting zoo. Cages are set up and there will be no contact with animals.
Handwashing stations are being prepped for the event. Channel 9 was told anyone visiting the exhibit must pass a handwashing station and there will be people reminding visitors to wash their hands.
There are also a warning sign, informing people about the dangers of E.coli, which will be post Tuesday night.
On Eyewitness News starting at 5 p.m., reporter Ken Lemon will have more from the health department on the steps they're taking to keep people safe.
