Clover High School drum line wins national competition

CLOVER, S.C. — A group of local high schoolers just won the Super Bowl of band competitions.

The drum line at Clover High School took gold last weekend at the WGI Dayton World Championships, beating out nearly 50 other groups on their way to victory.

Senior Mackenzie Pearson told Channel 9 the key to the team’s success on a recent visit.

“I have done this for so long and I have built such a bond with everybody,” she said. “It’s such a family and happy environment and it’s just a way to get away.”

Clover is the first high school drum line from South Carolina to win the competition.
