CMPD arrests man, teen in connection with string of armed robberies

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have arrested two suspects accused of being involved in a series of armed robberies across the Charlotte area.

CMPD said they have charged 21-year-old Khari Clary for his involvement the investigated cases and 17-year-old Denzel Orr for his involvement in one of the cases.

ARMED ROBBERY CASES: 

  • March 6 - Dollar General on Albemarle Road
  • March 9 at 5:19 p.m. - Dollar General on Heathway Drive
  • March 9 at 7:35 p.m. - Arby's on Monroe Road
  • March 11 - Papa Johns on Cambridge Commons Drive
  • March 12 at 8:16 p.m. - Dollar General on East W.T. Harris Boulevard
  • March 12 at 8:23 p.m. - Auto Zone on East W.T. Harris Boulevard

Officials said during the investigation, Orr was identified as a suspect in the armed robbery of the Papa Johns and warrants were issued for his arrest.

Police charged Orr with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

CMPD said continued investigation of the cases helped to identify Clary as an additional suspect in the robbery cases. Clary was arrested March 28 by members of CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.

Authorities said Clary was charged with five counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon.
