CMPD charge man with murder in home invasion shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they have arrested a man and charged him with murder following the shooting death of Michael Crawford during a home invasion in northeast Charlotte last month.

Officers said they took Corey Walker into custody early Friday morning and have charged him with first-degree murder, burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said Crawford was asleep in his home with his family on Sept. 17 when Walker and another man broke in and demanded money.

Walker is due to make his first court appearance Monday.
