CMPD closes Eastway Drive after man drives across 4 lanes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a man who they said hit a power pole and then took off.

Police closed Eastway Drive near the Arnold Drive intersection around 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

The power pole snapped in half and downed the power lines covered the road.

Police arrested a man they said drove across four lanes of traffic before hitting the pole.

The driver's name and the charges against him haven't been released.
