CMPD searches for man after 2 banks, auto parts store robbed

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Surveillance pictures released late Tuesday show a man at the counter at the Wells Fargo Bank on West Sugar Creek Road.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police is searching for a man after two banks and an auto parts store was robbed.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police believe the man walked into the bank on Sept. 22 and demanded money from the teller.

They believe the same man came back to the bank Monday afternoon, and this time passed the teller a note, demanding money.

He demanded money from a bank employee and fled the scene once he received it.

He was described as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30. He was seen wearing a black, zip-up hoodie and sunglasses.

On Monday, a man entered the same Wells Fargo Bank around 11 a.m. and approached a bank employee, handing the employee a note that demanded money. The man then fled the scene before receiving any money.

The man is described as a light-skinned black man, last seen wearing a red hoodie, black shades, gloves and a mask over his face.

Around 8:30 p.m. Monday, a man entered the Advanced Auto Parts on Hankins Road. The clerk told police the man brandished a firearm and demanded property from the business. The man fled the scene with the property. Police said the clerk was not injured. The robber was described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build.

He was seen wearing a black jacket and black pants.

The auto parts store is about 5 miles from the Wells Fargo Bank

Paris Jones works out at a gym down the street from the auto parts store. She saw all the commotion Monday night.

"There were two police cars here out back, and three more in the parking lot, but I didn't know what was going on," Jones said.

Crime like that is a concern for Jones, who works in the area as well.

"I have a 5-year-old here in the back seat right now. It makes me kind of weary about the area now. I really can't believe that," she said.

Police told Channel 9 that they are confident the same person committed all three crimes.
