CHARLOTTE — A 3-hour SWAT standoff is over after detectives serving an arrest warrant took a suspect into custody in west Charlotte.
The operation started just before 8 a.m. along Old Steele Creek Road, north of West Boulevard.
CMPD’S SWAT Team has successfully taken the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect was wanted on several violent felony arrest warrants related to a recent shooting.

Police said detectives with CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) were trying to serve arrest warrants related to a recent shooting.
When the suspect did not come out of the home, CMPD said its SWAT Team was called to help.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., SWAT took the suspect into custody. That suspect has not been identified and police have not said what charges they face.

While SWAT was serving the warrants, neighbors were asked to avoid the area.
