Colorado man survives shark, bear attacks months apart

A Colorado man had two close encounters with wild animals months apart.

Dylan McWilliams was attacked by a shark and then a bear.

Last year, he said he was bitten by a shark while surfing alone in Hawaii.

"I just like started kicking at him and I kicked him,” McWilliams said.

Months later, he was camping in Colorado when a 280-pound black bear roamed onto his campsite. McWilliams said he woke up with his head inside the mouth of the bear and the bear dragged him out of his sleeping bag.

"Yelling, screaming, hitting it and trying to poke its eyes, anything tender,” McWilliams said. “I was pulling on its nose as hard as I could and its ears."

McWilliams has taught wilderness survival classes.

He said he camped a week after the bear attack and will return to the ocean once the wound from his shark bite heals.
