Man accused of taking pictures of child in Concord Mills bathroom

Shyheim Bailey, 21, is in jail facing felony charges, accused of taking cellphone pictures and video of a child in a bathroom at Concord Mills mall.

A boy was at Dave and Busters with his family on June 20, when he told them he saw a man holding a phone beneath the stall where he was.

Police said the boy's parents confronted Bailey, who was still at the restaurant when officers arrived.

Concord police Capt. Robert Ledwell told Channel 9 officers took Bailey's cellphone before anything could be deleted from it. He said they found other pictures on it that could be pictures of victims in other places, some outside of Concord.

"This is just a perverse action to be honest with you,” Ledwell said. "That could have been my kid.  That could have been your kid."

Some people told Channel 9 they were disturbed to hear what happened.

"It’s pretty creepy that somebody would be doing that.  They need to get some security or mall security to roam that area," said Keith Blevins.

Virtuous Harris said she was in the restaurant at Concord Mills that same weekend.

"It’s kind of scary, and I’m pretty sure that anybody that knows that it happened to them, it could probably change them for the rest of their life," she said.

Bond for Bailey has been set at $300,000.  He's expected in court on Wednesday.

Dave and Busters did not returns calls for comment on Monday afternoon.
